“Coalescence” is shows an overview of work created during the past 4 years and marks first time our work will be shown in Japan.
For De Intuïtiefabriek amazement is a key word. We get amazed by materials, concepts, manufacturability, workmanship, esthetics and hope to deliver that same feeling of amazement to the observer when viewing our work. Discovery and unveiling are aspects that we applied in the ‘Virtu’ series. A fascination with the historical display of china, goblets and tea sets in cabinets, married to the effort and skill of craftsmen put in decorating, led to ‘Composition’. Along with our furniture pieces we try to create a similar amazement in other fields of design: We have observed form, textures and details of clothing and used these to give make connections between their look and the surroundings in a fashion video, and brought back memories by transforming everyday objects and placing them in a different context with our candle holder Whirlabout.
Designer
After graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2009, the members of De Intuitiefabriek founded their all-female studio in Amsterdam in 2012. Their output varies from furniture to tableware to set design- with all projects linked by the team’s intuitive use of materials and techniques. To De Intuïtiefabriek, design is about craftsmanship, the feel of the material and the act of making. Their aim is to create perfectly crafted products, from which one can feel the love with which they were made. They create a pure and precise near fragility, bringing the observer into a new world.
