Macoto Murayama

In the beginning, science, mathematics, astronomy, music, art were all one academic discipline that sought the origins of the world. Taking the fusion of cutting-edge science, technology and art as its theme, ARINARITA LAB (Shinya Narita+Arina Tsukada)puts out a wide array creative content, and the MIMIR project was launched in the summer of 2013 with the aim of fusing science and art. The project’s first curated presentation features Macoto Murayama, an artist who visualizes the shape and structure of plants with the elaborateness of architectural drawing. After using loupes and microscopes to observe and sketch the fine details of flowers he has picked, Murayama then takes on the tremendous effort of modeling the structure in CG. To reconstruct the perfect, sublime and bilaterally symmetric form of a flower is both a scientific process and a very fine work of art. It is a peerless botanical art form that fuses a biological perspective with outstanding CG technology.
