NOSIGNER

Sumi, created in 2007 as a re-design of the traditional “Yusan-bako” picnic box of Tokushima Prefecture. An example of contemporary design innovation, Sumi is made by traditional Japanese artisans, among the most highly skilled in the world. While SUMI is what led NOSIGNER to investigate finding a solution to problems that have lately beset local artisans and industry, their work has expanded into a product line called “COLORS,” the in-house brand of MSY Corporation, also sympathetic to the cause. ” "MAG CONTAINER," magnetically-attracted wooden stationary boxes crafted by artisans from Tokushima, is just one example. A series of shapes with angles in multiples of 30 degrees, an equilateral triangle, a square and a rhomboid, can be arranged freely--the embedded magnets attract the containers to produce a puzzle-like geometric pattern.
