Gravity is a constant presence surrounding us in any given age.
This furniture’s prototype is of a shape so organic, the people hundreds of years in the past probably came up with the same. This knockdown table, completed by two simple frames supported by two mass-providing rods, is a design that visualizes and utilizes ever-presence of gravity. It is a product that was just as “now” a presence 100 years ago as it will be 100 years from now.
Designer
Based in Fukuoka, Gaku Takasu went independent in 2002, and is the principal of ‘interior & product design TGD’.
His concept, “Simple, enduring, beautiful”, pursues design with a constant focus on the comfort between — between people and space, between people and time, and beyond. His work traverses a broad field of design from spaces to furniture and daily housewares.
